Cavendish news!

I am excited to share that a couple of days ago Claire Legrand was able to reveal the full jacket to the Cavendish Home for Boys and Girls!  I illustrated the cover and the awesome Lucy Ruth Cummins designed the jacket.  She was also the art director on the whole project.  I love how it came out, and the finish will have some sweet effects!  I still get to reveal the actual book and the interiors in August when it is release so stay tuned.

And, also related to Cavendish, Claire did an awesome giveaway.  I meant to post this during that time, but I am, in fact, a doofus.  The grand prize was a piece of fan art that I created specially for the giveaway shown below.  The winner was Vivien Propst, woohoo!! I had a lot of fun with the piece, playing around with a shadowbox effect.
I am currently working on another little project with Claire.  I hope to be able to share it next week!

Scoutmob Shoppe

I'm excited to announce that I have partnered with Scoutmob to sell my art prints with a discounted shipping rate!  They did a trial run with a few local makers and it went really well.  So they opened up shop!  The guys at Scoutmob are really cool.  They came in and did a photo shoot and set up a neat profile for each artist to feature more about them along with their work.  Check out my profile and prints here, and buy some if you'd like! I hope to get new designs in soon.

new work and news!

Hello world!  Hope you had an awesome 4th.  I had a lot of fun.  Shooting fireworks and mooching off other's fireworks from the rooftop;) Haha.

First, I wanted to announce that I will have aprons and tea towels out early next year! Ahhhh yayy!!!!  I partnered with the wonderful people at Peking Handicraft.  They sell to places like Target and Bloomingdale's, and even smaller boutique shops.  I was approached by them at Surtex and everything aligned really nicely.  I love working with them, and there is opportunity for bedding and pillows down the line.  The first collection that I will be doing with them is really exciting.  We might even work with Halloween work too!  I can't wait to share with you guys.  What is also cool, is that you can buy two for your small shop, or a ton for your department stores.  They cater to a large range of sellers.  There are other designers that they work with that I really admire, like Anna Maria Horner and Kate Spain.  So, anyway! That is exciting for me. If you have a shop, sign up for a wholesale account at Peking so you can see their full range of products.

And, new work....Here are two new pieces, on is for the Red Fox Literary "Foxy Friday's" which is our little version of Illustration Friday.  The them was "summer," which I used for both of them.  I absolutely love working in this technique.  I have been trying to work with collage for a while now, and it finally came together this week when I had my sewing stuff and paper stuff out and the same time.  I didn't know if I wanted to draw or sew, so I did both, along with gluing found objects.  Then my husband Scott photographed them with natural light.  It was so fun.  I want to make more.  In general I am finding myself away from the computer when I make work now.  I think I just get bored with digital sometimes and want to revert back to mostly traditional when I can.  This technique is a good way for me to marry the different things I like to do.  I also like how it keeps me from tweaking the crap out of the work, so it can keep a more naive hand.  Hope you like.
